Gülipek İnceoğlu Aksu

Gülipek İnceoğlu Aksu is a Turkish ceramic artist working under the name Ruka Ceramics. Her practice is a study in receptive creation, a process of allowing forms and stories to arise naturally and find their way into the world through clay.

The name Ruka Ceramics reflects a fundamental search for equilibrium: the union of Ruka (breath), representing the upper realms of spirit and inspiration, with Ceramics (earth), the grounding element of the lower realm. Through her work, Gülipek seeks to bridge these two worlds, finding balance in the space where they meet.

For Gülipek, the creative process begins long before the clay is touched. It starts with an unfolding idea, a visual flow that she first captures through sketching and then meticulously translates into three-dimensional forms. With a background in engineering, the artist brings an attentive discipline to structure and proportion, yet her work is ultimately guided by the intuitive balance of the hand.

Most of her pieces are one-of-a-kind vessels that serve as storytellers. Drawing from archetypes, nature, and the healing power of the natural world, she explores the delicate dance between light and shadow, presence and memory. Her vibrant, illustrated motifs act as a modern lexicon of ancient symbols and animal spirits, inviting the viewer into a dialogue between the seen and the felt.

Gülipek creates objects that hold what words often cannot: a sense of simple wonder, and a gentle reminder that balance is something that can be crafted by hand. Once a piece is complete, she lets it go -- believing that its true journey begins when it becomes a part of someone else’s daily ritual.
