Ella Bua-In is a self-taught potter whose ceramics are intentionally tactile and imperfect: pieces made to be handled and loved. The artist studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, London, where she focused primarily on painting. After graduating, in an attempt to reconnect with craft and the physical act of making, she joined a ceramics studio and began teaching herself to work with clay.

Illustration sits at the heart of Bua-In's practice, with narrative designs hand-painted in oxides. Her work is shaped by the landscape she calls home, near the River Teifi, with ancient forests and mountains on one side, slate cliffs and seabirds on the other. She draws further inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints, classical art, and folklore. Each piece is unique, from the brush strokes on its surface to its physical quirks. Bua-In's pieces are characterful, expressive, and entirely her own.

She lives and works in Cardigan, West Wales, with her family.
