"My artwork tells a story through sketch, paint, and ceramics. I am inspired by an emotional response to a place. This includes the landscape around me, and the changing seasons. I try to capture the sensations I feel through layers of texture and colour.

I begin my process by working in sketch books, which are such an important part of my journey.  I work quickly and intuitively, exploring further with painting and print methods. The clay is a natural progression from painting. I use similar methods of layering: paper resist, mono print, and Lino for texture. There is a natural flow between my artwork, and I think of the clay as another form of canvas on which to paint.

From being scenic artist to working in therapeutic art, I have taught in therapeutic environments for over thirty years, simultaneously creating work from my home studio. My background has affected how I work, and I've developed a slow and sensitive approach to my own practice. I want time to fully explore ideas and follow my instincts, allowing ideas to meander and find their own way."
