Alice Corbett

London born Alice Corbett moved to Devon at an early age growing up in a world of creativity - Art and crafts very much in her family DNA.

Gaining a BA(Hons) in Interior Architecture at Kingston University, Alice’s interests lead her to explore the world of ceramics. Continuing her studies at Richmond College, her passion for clay and its applications has brought her journey into the realm of ceramic sculpture, her story becoming form and texture combined.

Today, Alice lives and works in Richmond. About her practice, she writes:

"My works vary in size using slab or coiling techniques and then decorated in an abstract fashion often creating several layers of texture, underglaze and oxide, firing pieces two or three times. My work has hidden layers, some will stay hidden forever creating a bond between the artist and the piece of work. Other glazes create windows through which further layers will appear. Sometimes I use old textiles and materials from decades long gone to imprint on the clay and suddenly we have the old and the new embodied together."
