Working in porcelain and stoneware, Becca Brown combines drawing, painting and printmaking to build narrative on the surface of decorative hand built ceramics. Featuring delicate line drawings inspired by mundane scenes, moments of connection and half-remembered Scottish superstitions, she ensures that fingerprints, brush strokes and making marks are left exposed to accentuate the relationship between vessel and subject.
After initially studying Textile and Surface Design at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from 2010-14, Brown went on to study for a Masters in Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art in 2014, and stayed on as Artist in Residence from 2015-16. She moved to Sheffield for the Ceramic Starter Studio at Yorkshire Artspace in 2017-19 and has stayed put since, juggling work as a ceramicist with work in healthcare, and now in education.
