Ella Carty

"I have always wanted to say this out loud. I am a painter who investigates my own experiences of the world. I’m interested in describing a process of perception, discovery and regeneration. Spitting out paint and matter as I go along. A messy and rewarding process and something that keeps me endlessly satisfied."

Ella Carty (b. 1971 in Nairobi, Kenya) studied BA Fine Art Painting at Cheltenham College of Art 1990 - 94. She lives and works in Cornwall, and her studio is at Art Centre Penryn. Carty is a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists and teaches at The St. Ives School of Painting. She exhibits widely across the UK and beyond, and her paintings are held private collections in Europe, Canada, U.S. Australia and the Far East.
